The Spatial Justice
Conceptual Model.
The analytical spine of the Spatial Justice Package. It conceptualises spatial justice as three interconnected and mutually reinforcing dimensions — distributive, procedural and recognitional — and unpacks each into three operational components.

Why three, together
Each dimension answers a different question, and none of the three substitutes for the others. Distributive justice asks who gets what, where and on what terms. Procedural justice asks how those decisions are made, by whom and with what voice. Recognitional justice asks whose values, identities and ways of life are visible to the institutions doing the planning.
A plan can distribute resources fairly while still deciding everything behind closed doors. A process can be wide open to participation while ignoring the specific needs of the groups least able to attend a public meeting. The model insists on holding all three questions open at once, because a city that scores well on one while neglecting the other two has not solved spatial injustice — it has relocated it.

The nine components do not stand alone. They sit inside a wider vocabulary of rights, principles, justice traditions, methods, critical concepts, urban conditions and the theorists who have shaped the field.
