PAKHUIS DE ZWIJGER AMSTERDAM
In 2006, the former warehouse on Piet Heinkade opened its doors as Pakhuis de Zwijger: platform for creation and social innovation. Pakhuis started organising programs about the city, the country and the world of the future. In 15 years, Pakhuis has grown into a unique national and global stage, focusing on bringing people together and impacting projects that contribute to the development of a more sustainable, fair and future-proof society.
Pakhuis de Zwijger is an accessible, independent and safe public meeting place for everyone. A contemporary ‘talking house’ with a strong online environment that has chosen dialogue as its form of discussion. A place where we jointly formulate ambitions and present different opinions and insights to arrive at creative solutions to the urgent and complex social issues of our time. Where we bring artists and designers together with scientists, policymakers, practical experts and citizens in all their diversity. Where together we visualise the city and metropolitan region of tomorrow, test research results against everyday practice and present technological and social innovation as alternatives to current policy and reality. And last but not least, a place where we ask many questions and tackle social issues as complex design tasks.
